> She glances back down, looking slightly surprised by the noise. Then, rather than verbally responding, she just points upwards, towards an aurora forming above them. Green and blue, faint against the sky. It doesn't appear to phase her much- Must be a common enough occurrence. Then she steps back inside, leaving her door open. The hive itself is a squat cabin with a steeply inclined roof- Presumably to prevent it caving in from snow accumulation. The overhang is decorated with woven effigies and bones, likely to dissuade the more superstitious trolls from approaching it. There's a smaller section towards one end of the roof that's raised upwards- An attic of some sort. Altogether: A modest, but cozy-looking, hive. 00:32:39

> There is a few minutes as Arthel sat there, fumbling with his phone to take a picture of that Aurora. It'd be something he could add to his collection on the beauties of this world. Though, soon enough, there was a guest at the door of her hive. He left his rucksack outside, and waited to be proper invited in. Turning back around to see the journey he had made. Just to think that somewhere deep down below was his scuttlebuggy, and the entire life he had ever known. It made him regret not living in the hills just a little bit more than it should've. Regardless, he had a job. Arthel shook his head before he finally entered after Loefey. [br][color=teal]"Guess I'm a lucky guy for the sky to do that right then."[/color] [br]- [br] > Arthel slid the door closed afterwards, since letting the warmth of her hive escape wasn't something he'd do. 00:38:50

> The interior of the hive is cozier still. A relatively low roof, a fire in the hearth, and hand-made furniture. Shelves around the living/dining room adorned with knick-knacks, dolls, and other carved crafts. The room is lit by hanging lanterns, giving the lighting a flickering, moody atmosphere. Loefey herself was in the kitchen, to the left of the door, fussing over a kettle. Her own hair was a mess, too. Short, unkempt, and tangled around the bases of her antlers. Well, antler-and-a-half.[br]-[br]> "Mmm- It does it... M- Every night. But, I... Mmm, it is not something that happens in- The north, no?" Her accent is immediately noticeable, with a musical lilt, rolled Rs and an inability to pronounce 'th'. Like a cross between celtic and icelandic. The stutter that interrupted it was even more noticeable, though. 00:44:28

The only cool thing that happens in the city is sometimes parades happen."[/color] [br] He had no further comment on that, mainly because he was perturbed by that speaking issue. Surely they had to be fucking with him, and eventually they would slip into normal speech when they dropped this verbal quirk. One could only hope. He does what comes natural to people acting peculiarly, and decide to play along. [br]- [br]> Arthel thought back on previous lessons in personal space, and stood where he was by the closed door. Most of the things here he thought he could snap in half, her included. The thought was discarded because it would've been rude and uncalled for. Her expression utterly vacant. If her speech is odd, her total lack of emotion doesn't help matters. She looks perpetually kind of bewildered. 1000 yard stare, constantly.[br]-[br]> "Some are made of... Wood. Pine, mostly. Others are made of bone. Their joints are- Mmm- mostly sinew. Some made with- With hair. If they are inset with something, it is likely- Mmm- A shiny rock I found while- Ex- Ploring." Also sitting in various corners in the room are: A banjo (lovingly used), a spear (not-so-lovingly, but [i]very[/i] used, and adorned with bones like the outside of her hive), and a bag with what looks to be hiking and camping supplies. 00:59:01

> Arthel didn't really look at her near enough to be unsettled, but that time came soon enough. As she spoke, it did dawn on him that she probably just had a mutation. Did that give him grounds by Imperial Law to gut her? Was he obligated to? The thought was intrusive, and was discarded. Arthel had the usual expressiveness one would have when they learned to look in the mirror to better fit in with other people. If anything, if Loefey was the pinnacle of peculiar traits, Arthel was painfully normal. Outside of his strong frame. [br] -[br] > He knew better than to go around touching her things, and he figured that the spear wasn't for show in case he did do anything too stupid. He moved to crouch down near the fire before sitting down criss-cross, leaning back some and holding himself up with his hands. Eventually, he kicked his legs out, just going to soak in the warmth for a bit. [br] [br] - [br] >[color=teal] "Something like that. It's usually for the officers who are going offworld or prestigious Seadwellers who are destined to succeed as an adult, free booze is usually offered so I like to attend."[/color] He sighed between 'adult' and 'free', seems he had a lapse in thought for a moment. 01:09:22

In fact, given her isolation, she probably has no frame of reference.[br] -[br]> She walks over to one of the shelves, bringing down a pair of small baskets, covered in a dark cloth. Presumably the jam, plus some other sundries, and sets them on the table before sitting next to Arthel and sipping her own tea. The spear is absolutely not for show, if the faded, but multicolored stains on it were any indication. Not that it'd be particularly useful in the cramped confines of her hive.[br]-[br]> "Mmm. Sounds- Irr- Irritating. I do not- Mmm- Know why one would cel- Celebrate their exodus. Fr- Booze, is... Mmm- It is nice, though. If you care for some- The- Bottle. Mmm. [i]Liþealu[/i]. An- Aged liquor. Made from... Herbs- And fruits that grow around here." She's steady in her speech, at least. Not liable to lose a train of thought. Her natural soft-spokeness, accompanied by the stammer, makes her sound anxious despite her collected, poised demeanor. 01:19:45

Letting the taste roll around in his mouth for a few seconds. There was a profound tiredness everpresent on his face. Like the bags under his eyes had become a permanent feature of his appearance. There was a tealness to his face, probably due to his close attachment to beverages of alcoholic content. [br] - [br] > [color=teal]"Never had anything like this before, it's not bad." [/color] Even if it was awful tasting, Arthel didn't show it. It could've been poison and he would've said it was fine. When he had roughly a shots worth of beverage left, he poured the tea into it. It was a speedrun tactic to him, allowing him to enjoy both. [br] - [br] > [color=teal]"It's definitely irritating, but hey, if it gives people an excuse to enjoy their time I'm all for it."[/color] People usually got too rowdy and needed to be roughed up for it, which made things easier to stomach for him. Loefey, in contrast, had a smattering of faint sun-freckles across her face and a slight olive tint to her nose. But shine has no character- No... Mmm- Profile. Not fun to drink." She, personally, favors lighter wines. Liquor is hard to make and dangerous in the cold. I dislike loud sounds." She tilts her head slightly, staring into the fire with that hazy, dreamlike expression. "I do not know how I fee- Feel about crowds. They- Mmm... He figured they'd have been paying too much attention to the fire to notice the trophies of war he had taken from the deceased tribal. Soon enough, the teal moved to hold a rectangle out to her. A cardboard box which had yet to be opened. A container of Intergalactic Brownies. [br]- [br]> [color=teal]"This's yours. Don't eat 'em all in one night or you'll throw up."[/color] Arthel looked over the two gift packages that they made, more so judging if he would be able to pour the contents into his rucksack without seeming rude. He brought his hand up to his chin and stroked it while he pondered on that. [br] > [color=teal]"Handwoven, too? Damn."[/color] 01:48:44

> She accepts the Box. A curious thing. She twists it in her grip- Uncertain of how this thing is supposed to be fucking opened. "Mmm. I probably would dislike it. The storms here bother- Me to no end, even inside." She sighs, her shoulders drooping like she deflated. Not pleasant to think about. Then she absently picks at the corner of the box- And finally just rips the corner off with her fangs. And pops a brownie into her mouth. The expression she makes in response can only be described as Truly Intergalactic. She swallows it down and then coughs aggressively.[br] -[br]> "These are- Mmm- Very- Ghh- Sweet, no? Like... A block of- Mmm... I- Do not have words for it." She seems more surprised and shocked by the sensation, rather than disdainful of it. It's very New, and she's wrestling with the information she now has. She recollects herself at Arthel's observation of the baskets, though. "Mmm- Yes, well- There is little out here that is not hand-made, yes? It is- Mmm- There was no alternative to weaving them." She brushes it off matter-of-factly, seemingly indifferent to the compliment. Must not have noticed it. 01:57:59

A short pause as she considers her own words. Blink-blink. She picks a piece of chocolate from her teeth. "This is- An acquired taste, no? They... Mmm... Like... Not bad, but- A lot. > Well, the goal had been acquired. That meant he was free to leave whenever he wanted. However, unlike others, he found a strange companionship with them. A troll who had came from a similar enough situation to himself or so he thought. It was a few seconds of wistful thinking before it dawned on him that they were nothing alike because despite his humble origins he was the worst troll he'd ever met. Arthel grimaced a bit at it, but the feeling soon left as figured he deserved it to a degree. [br] [br]> [color=teal]"Oh, they're something alright. I used to snack on them as rewards for successful jobs."[/color] Mainly, it was what his friend had offered him in his youth. Intergalactic Brownies reminded him of his youth where his life free-er, and he hated knowing that he started off so feeble and pleasant. That at one point, he was something more. 02:27:07

Like... Mmm... Never- Never mind, actually." She shakes her head slightly, evidently a little embarrassed by her rambling, and walks away to set the mug in her sink. She takes a moment to awkwardly adjust some things around- Jars of spices and washclothes. An anxious troll. Deer behavior. 02:36:16
